Mounting A Hangboard On A Concrete Wall

Traditional mounting requires one to screw holes into the wall and fasten the hangboard in place.

Then use the screws that come with the hangboard for the rest of the holes. Use the butt of your leatherman or your knuckles or an actual stud finder to tap the wall all across the doorframe horizontally and locate the studs. If you mount it to a piece of plywood the screws would only be holding on to 3 4 technically 23 32 d i would use 1 4 or 3 16 x 2 1 4 or longer tap con screws in each of the mounting holes. However some of the more solid options can be used virtually anywhere.

We used 5 of them. 3 put the battoning underneath and drive screws straight in. Line up the hangboard holes with the 2 4 mini studs. You will want to go into at least one if not two or three studs not just drywall.

If you re in need of a damage free option there aren t a whole lot of techniques you can implement. Personally i would install the hangboard directly to the concrete. In this video jon shows how to quickly and safely mount a hangboard aka project board over your doorway. This is especially important if you weight more than 150 pounds.

Use 3 flat head screws to attach the hangboard through the plywood and into those boards. Your completed hangboard mount should look like this. All together now all kinds of wall join in. Put a wall plug over the end of a 3 screw and bang it into the wall with a hammer and tighten up.
