The marbling process involves floating acrylic paint on top of a base of thickened water swirling and moving the paint into unique patterns then dipping in a piece of wood that will be stained with the pattern. The marbled paint technique i used for this project is super easy because of the paint. The folkart marbling paint doesn t have to be mixed with any chemicals. I think using regular craft acrylic paint is just fine for most marbling projects.

This technique is messy so i use scrap cardboard to cover my table. Mix each with one part marbling medium and one part craft paint. That s a little scary for me. Then mix your paint in disposable cups.

Start with your plain wood panel and protect your work surface well. In maker space we tried out a brand new paint marbling project using wood and were thrilled by the response it received.
